French Toast

With over 7000 restaurants in San Francisco, it’s easy for a foodie to find a great place to eat. But if you are looking for the “Best Breakfast” then you might have to do some research. Check Yelp, Urban Spoon, Tripadvisor?
I searched Yelp, and found a highly rate cafe which appeared to offer just what we were looking for – homestyle breakfast. So off we went on the two block hike around the corner from our hotel in Union Square. We passed at least four breakfast places along the way, and when we arrived at our destination, we were stopped by a huge line out the door. People were waiting to order at the counter, and then hoping to find a table. Nope not for me. So we backtracked one block to a place that we passed on the way that looked inviting, Le Scene.
In the heart of the theater district, inside the Warwick Hotel, Le Scene lived up to our expectations of the best breakfast place for that day. Friendly and prompt service, affordable prices (average $8-$12 dollars), and delicious coffee. I really wanted to order the cable car eggs just for namesake, or the biscuits and gravy as they are one of my all time favorites, but the french toast was calling my name that morning.

We each liked our breakfast choices, with no complaints – unusual for this discerning crowd. I am memorializing it here in my blog so I can remember to go back next time I am in San Francisco.
