What do you do when you need to reset your life and put things in perspective? Immerse yourself in Nature! I took this trip to Yosemite last November with my two teenage boys, when the crowds were minimal and the snow was still on the ground. We all really needed this trip! My divorce was final that year, my mom past away weeks before the trip (I had the trip planned before she got sick), and the boys had just broken up with their girlfriends. ROADTRIP!
I have a friend who sold his house and bought 5 acres just outside the west entrance to Yosemite in Groveland. A friend who is really more like a brother than a friend and invited us to come visit. A hermit, lumberjack, artist, with a 3 bedroom house all to himself. OK twist my arm. I didn’t know how much we all needed this trip when I planned it until it was time to go.
I can’t say much about the trip other than we talked, we played cards, we hiked, we talked more, and played more cards (we played a LOT of cards), and we even fit in a few drinking games.
Our next visit is planned for June this year and we will get a chance to see Yosemite without the snow and with the crowds. Different perspective but still amazing I’m sure. This has become one of my favorite places in USA and its only 3 hours from San Francisco (another favorite place in USA).
