I challenge you to find someone who hasn’t heard the name Wolfgang Puck.
I know of Wolfgang Puck, but learned a few new things about this culinary master recently:

* Although Wolfgang is Austrian, he is a french trained chef.
* His most famous restaurant is Spago is one of only three restaurants in Los Angeles area to earn two Michelin Stars
* He has expanded from fine dining to casual bistros and express cafes located in grab and go places like LAX , grocery stores, Macys, museums, and playhouses
* He begin culinary training officially at age 14 but learned from his mom, you guessed it – a chef – years before
* Celebrities love him, and caters the post party at the Academy Awards

I haven’t been to Spago yet, or his restaurants at the Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons in Maui, or Beverly Wilshire, but I did go try one of his Bistros at Universal City Walk at the recommendation of a friend.

While I am a foodie and appreciate great food as works of art, my son is a vegetarian and just plain picky with his food. Would a casual Wolfgang Puck bistro satisfy our group’s discerning tastes?

Here’s what we had (average prices ranging $10 to $18 for pizzas salas burgers and $20+ for full entrees)

Butter Lettuce Salad
Ricotta Ravioli
Wild Mushroom Pizza
Smoked Salmon Pizza
Crispy Chicken Salad

We liked all items ordered, seated right away although busy night during spring break, service was attentive, and prices reasonable. I wouldn’t say its the best meal I’ve ever had, but we were not disappointed, and I would go back.

Ravioli: I wondered if the pasta was homemade – didn’t seem like it, the sauce and brocollini were very good.

Pizzas: really liked the mushroom pizza, crust could have been crispier.

Butter lettuce salad: the lettuce was crisp, the dressing could have had more flavor, and the bruschetta was very good.
